Happy Birthday Jimi Hendrix.
On October 15, 1965, Hendrix signed his first recording contract with PPX Enterprises for $1.00 and 1% royalties for three years, in a controversial deal that would complicate Hendrix’s future success. Now, the contract is displayed at the Gotta Have It! Rock & Roll Pop Art Auction Press Preview at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC in New York City, though it is the source of legal disputes to this day.

Twin Propellers by Nick DeWolf.
More airplane shots from Nick DeWolf. Here’s the info on this photographer from my previous post:
I just became aware of this project on Flickr when I saw a post on A Continuous Lean. Nick DeWolf carried a camera around with him everywhere during his lifetime (1928 - 2006) and took photos of nearly everything. His son-in-law Steve Lundeen is digitizing all of DeWolf’s work and posting it to Flickr. Currently there are over 50,000 images and counting.
You could look through the archives for hours, it’s such a cool glimpse into someone’s life.

Close Inspection: Magnum Contact Sheets
No document gives greater insight into how a photographer shoots and edits than a contact sheet—the direct print, from a roll or negatives, where a film photographer often first sees her work, grease pencil in hand, and marks her best frames. A new book from Thames & Hudson collects a hundred and thirty-nine notable contact sheets made by Magnum photographers, from the nineteen-thirties to the present, some of which are currently on view at the International Center of Photography.
